Right Choice For Drill Bits
Different drill bits have different purposes. There are drill bits made for certain tasks like making holes, expanding holes, or finishing holes. So if you are planning to use drill bits, you should know which drill bits match your needs.
Drill bits have different types and kinds. Some drill bits are used for making starting hole. Some of them are used for soft materials and others are built for hard ones. There are also drill bits used to enlarge holes or for finishing purposes. These drill bits types are the center drill bits, the twist drill bits, and the core drill bits.
The Twist Drill Bits
The twist drill bits are applied to drill holes on various materials such as plastics, woods, or metals. These twist drill bits are available in many sizes. The common sizes of the twist drill bits are from 0.05 mm in length up to 100 mm in length. These sizes are used to describe the diameter of the hole covered by the twist drill bits.
For example the twist drill bits size 0.05 mm covers the two over one thousand millimeter (0.002 mm) diameter of hole and the twist drill bits size 100 mm covers the hole with diameter measures four millimeter (4 mm). The twist drill bits also have a size of 1000 millimeter (1000 mm) in length which covers the hole with diameter of 39 millimeter (39 mm). This size is used for powered hand tools.
The point angle of the twist drill bits is also considered. Different point angle of the twist drill bits has diverse applications. The one hundred eighteen (118) degree point angle of twist drill bits is the most flexible point angle. These twist drill bits can be used in many purposes. However, there are point angle of the twist drill bits made for specialized and specific task.
Twist drill bits without point angle are for the making holes with flat-bottoms. These are so sensitive in terms of positioning as any slight movement while drilling may cause in undesirable outcome.
The twist drill bits with ninety (90) degree point angle are used to create holes on very soft plastics. These types are very sharp and could produce starting hole for itself.
The one hundred fifty (150) degree point angle of twist drill bits are made for creating holes on hard materials like metals. These twist drill bits require a starting hole which can be obtained by means of center drill bits for easy operation and fine results.
The Center Drill Bits
The center drill bits are available in sizes one to six These are commonly used in working with hard materials like metal. The center drill bits have two (2) main purposes. First is for crafting a starting hole for the twist drill bits with 150 degree point angle, for reamer drill bits, for core drill bits, or for any larger drill bits. Meaning, the center drill bits applied for outlining a center hole for making bigger hole or use as preparation for making hole in hard materials. Second is for creating conical indentation to build up a lathe center for a piece of work.
The Core Drill Bits
The core drill bits are solid. Like reamer drill bits, core drill bits can not create starting hole because they do not have a cutting point. However, core drill bits have three or four flutes. The flutes improve the finish of the hole and ensure fine bit cuts.
The core drill bits have two main functions. It can be used for enlarging the hole or starting hole, and could double the size of the hole unlike the reamer drill bits. It can also be used for finishing purposes. It is possible to achieve perfect rounded shape holes due to the flutes of the core drill bits.

Need short game drills that can be done in short stints due to the pain of bending from many back surgeries.?
I played to a solid 3 handicap before 10 back surgeries, but have always had a problem from 25 yards and in. I tend to hit all of my pitches and chips very low, even with a 64-66 degree set back in my stance and they roll a lot more than I would like. Can't hit a flop shot at all. Need advice for learning how to hit the low crisp shot that skips once and stops dead from any distance. What club to use, what ball cover to use, how far to grip down, where placed in the stance, body open or square, length of back-swing to follow through, glove or no glove, distribution of weight right to left, divot or sweep and anything else that would be beneficial. Thank you for helping me fight the demons. Suggestions on how to hit a quick stopping flop shot would be nice also.
First, the equipment.
1. A wedge of 56* or higher, preferrably 60*
2. Make sure you use a soft cover, multi-layer ball like a ProV1 which is new and clean.
3. Make sure the wedge is clean and also newer if possible. A 2 year old wedge will not be able to perform this shot very well because the edges in the grooves get very worn down.
Ok, now the shot that spins and stops.
Your stance should be slightly narrower than shoulder width.
Feet slightly open to start, this sets your hips already open to give your hands room to move through the ball freely.
Choke down 1/2" to 1" on the club.
Weight should be 90% on your left (front) foot and stay there through the shot, this keeps you steady over the ball to make sure you hit it in the same place every time.
Hands slightly in front of the ball, but not too much. You don't want to de-loft the club very much.
Ball position should be centered.
I prefer to not wear a glove on any shot that is less than full (75yds and in) because it helps me feel the shot better. This is personal preference though.
Make a swing with soft but firm hands. This may seem confusing but you want the hands soft to feel the swing and bring the club down on the ball properly, but you want it firm enough to keep it on the right path and avoid any wrist action.
Extend your followthrough keeping your wrists firm (don't cup the wrists on the followthrough).
A good place to practice this is off of the fringe of the green or on teeboxes while waiting. It gives you a clean path to the ball and good feedback on your contact.
Remember the tighter the lie the more spin. If you are on fluffy rough or very thick fringe you won't get as much spin as you will off of lower cut, highly manicured grass.
Lastly, the flop shot.
You can definetely play this shot out of the rough, and unlike the previous shot the more room you have under the ball the better. It is extremely difficult to hit a flop shot from a very tight lie because there is less room to get the club underneath the ball.
**note: A 60* wedge with a negative bounce helps a lot here, because it will still lay flat to the ground after opening the face.
Line this shot up very similar to a greenside bunker shot. Stance open, clubface open. Like a bunker shot set up with a wide stance (wider than shoulder width). Choke down 1/2" to 1" on the club. The degree to which you do this depends on how far of a shot and how high you need the ball to go.
Don't open the face too much or this shot becomes extremely more difficult. Start by opening the face slightly until you get used to it.
Place the ball in the center of your stance or even a half a ball back. The reason for this I will expain in a minute.
Make a swing like a bunker shot. This shot should be all arms. Very little if any body movement. What you are doing is hitting a bunker shot except you are hitting the ball first (hence putting the ball a bit farther back). The key is to make contact in the same place every time. If you are good at bunker shots, with these couple modifications the flop shot should be very doable.
Slowly increase the amount you open the clubface until you reach a point that you cannot hit the shot anymore. That's your limit to play within.
**Practice** I actually practice chipping quite a bit in my living room, chipping up onto the couch, into the bedroom, etc. Its something you can do at commercial breaks without wearing your back out at a course practicing for hours. Obviously the flop shot needs some grass under it but anything else you can practice all you want.
I know this answer was long, but I hope I covered everything for you.
Good luck!
